For Cindy Coe, living positively is more than a philosophy.

She has taken that philosophy, and a passion for problem solving, to the extreme and created a service that she hopes will help clients realize their full potential, personally and professionally.

Coe is the creator of Inside Out Discovery, a coaching and consulting business she started over a year and a half ago.

Her mission, she says, is to show clients that even during difficult times they have all of the answers they need to solve their problems, excel and reach their goals.

Coe said she has always had a passion for learning and development.

She worked as a learning and development manager for a Fortune 500 company and later as manager of an online training division. She also worked in the company's marketing and communications departments. That's where she was first introduced to executive coaching.

The coaching she did then was all done virtually, and dealt with helping clients solve their own issues using various methods.

"The idea of being able to get people to figure out their own answers without giving them to them was such a cool thing," she said.

This type of coaching inspired Coe to learn more. She enrolled in the online institution Corporate Coach University International and learned different techniques and activities used to help coach people through issues they have with their businesses, personal lives, career situations and career transitions.

She graduated from the corporate coaching program and became a member of its international coaching federation.

Then she decided to risk leaving the company she worked for to start her own business.

With her multi-service practice, Coe said she wants to coach people in all situations. She said she adapts to the needs of each client in order to help them find what has to be done to overcome their issues.

She said her problem-solving techniques can help businesses by teaching team work, help retirees find what they want to do next or help a struggling couple decide what they need to change.

"You have to listen really well in order to read people and know what to do to help them," she said.

Coe said she helps clients identify the obstacles they want to overcome or situations they want to change, what might be done to solve the problem and what steps are necessary to reach the goal. She helps clients organize the process into steps and bring their own solution into focus, she said.

There has been a lot of controversy over "life" coaching, Coe said. This type of coaching is a relatively new development, but it is not to be considered as therapy she said.

So far all of her clients have been successful in finding solutions to their problems, Coe said.

"The person has to be coachable in order for the session to be beneficial," she said. "If the person isn't willing to be honest and doesn't want to try, I can't help."

Working from her Pueblo West home, Coe said that most people hear about her through word of mouth or through her new Web site that explains all of the services she offers. She said she can do sessions in person or by phone if it is more convenient for clients.

Coe said said she hopes to eventually work more closely with other coaches so she can offer alternatives to her clients.

Coe offers a free 30-minute coaching session for any who is interested. For more information call 547-3310 or visit www.insideoutdiscovery.com.
