The newest project for the Pueblo West Women’s League Let’s stART initiative is a six-foot high sculpture, “Stay in School,” by artist Lionel Trujillo of Steel and Restoration and member of the Steel City Art Works Gallery. The sculpture will be placed at Cattail Crossing. The base is made of concrete, masonry, stucco, which is four feet long and two feet high with a pattern on front to simulate layered limestone formation. Anchored to the top of this base will be a 45-inch diameter metal ring, which will be welded metal rods suggesting the motion of water and welded to that will be metal (silver and blue) fish to create the appearance of fish schooling together. There will be some kinetic aspects to it with a few tail (fin) waggers.
