Districts 60, 70 each helped fund landmark Lobato lawsuit
Pueblo City Schools (D60) and Pueblo County District 70 invested more than moral support in the long-standing lawsuit over whether the state’s system of funding public education was constitutional.
Both districts, which were among the 67 plaintiffs in the suit, contributed financially and through resolutions of support to the landmark Lobato v. Colorado case.
The case, which was filed in 2005, came to an end last week when the Colorado Supreme Court overturned a district court judge’s ruling to find the state’s system of funding public education is constitutional.
D60 contributed $18,375 toward the plaintiff fund, according to district spokesman Scott Jones.
Jones said the district also approved a resolution on June 22, 1010, in support of the court case.
