Back to school: Getting geared up

Notebooks, pencils, lunch bags, haircuts and new clothes – local parents are busy gearing up for the start of school next week. Schools in Pueblo West open their doors to all students on Monday, Aug. 12.

Freshman at Pueblo West High School started today to get oriented with their new school, as did sixth graders at Skyview Middle School and Liberty Point International School.

Elementary schools have posted or mailed teacher assignments to parents, as well as information for orientation and open houses.

Most schools hosted orientation for students today in preparation for next week’s return to class.

Principals and teachers alike have been readying their schools and classrooms.

Like last year, each student at Pueblo West High School – through the 1:1 computer initiative – receives an Apple MacBook for use throughout the year.

Other schools received iPads last year that can be used in the classrooms for a variety of learning purposes.

With a year under their belts of using them, many teachers are excited by knowing what all they can do.

There are uniforms at Prairie Winds Elementary School and Liberty Point Elementary School.

Both include logo shirts and specific colored pants.

Uniform shirts are available through a variety of local vendors, and schools can provide specific information.

The rest of the schools in Pueblo West follow standard District 70 dress code policies.
