Sports briefs: Under construction

Liberty Point 5K

Pueblo West High School graduate Michael Cernoia, a state champion during his days as a Cyclone, won the Liberty Point 5K on July 4 with a time of 15:31.

Pueblo South’s Jessica Kleven won the women’s division in 19:26.

More than 600 people participants competed in the growing event.

Lacrosse camp

The Pueblo West High School co-op lacrosse program is planning a two-day camp July 13-14 at the high school.

The camp will run from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day and will cost $225. It is intended for boys and girls of all ages and skill levels.

Fall meeting

Pueblo West High School has scheduled a mandatory meeting for all athletes planning to play a fall sport for Pueblo West High School this year.

The meeting is set for 6 p.m. on Aug. 5 at Jerry Kersey Gymnasium. All required paperwork will be handed out.

Sports physicals are scheduled from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Aug. 6-7 at the school. Cost is $30, and athletes must have a parent’s signature.

Wrestling camp

Pueblo West High School’s wrestling program is planning a camp from 12:30-3:40 p.m. July 15-18 at the high school for ages 4-18.

Softball meeting

The Pueblo West High School softball program is planning a meeting for all current and incoming players at 7 p.m. July 17 at the high school field.
