Crime beat: Small PW fires extinguished

Pueblo West firefighters responded to two minor fires Wednesday, including one that was apparently started by a juvenile.

According to reports with the Pueblo County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were called out to the 400 block of West Palmer Lake Drive on reports that weeds were burning in the area.

According to the report, the fire department was called and extinguished the fires quickly.

The deputies indicated that an unknown juvenile may have started that fire, but weren’t able to make any contact. That fire was reported about 7:42 p.m.

Earlier in the day, firefighters responded to a propane tank on fire on an unspecified block of East Rolling Hills Drive.

Firefighters also extinguished that one quickly, though a shed on the property sustained some minor damage.

Mario Chacon, 38, of the 100 block of Gale Avenue, was arrested Wednesday on a warrant for witness/victim intimidation. He was in Pueblo County jail on $45,000 bail and a hold for parole officials.

Michael N. Fuentes, 30, of the 2200 block of Lake Avenue, was arrested Wednesday on suspicion of aggravated robbery. He was in jail without chance for bail pending advisement in court.
