East aide suspended after social media post
Officials and coaches in Pueblo City Schools are silent about one of the most talked about topics locally in social media.
Paul Andrada, an assistant football coach at East High School, was suspended for two weeks following a post on a social media website following the Eagles’ 21-7 loss to South on Sept. 13 in the annual Cannon Game at Dutch Clark Stadium.
The post contained profanity and mentioned Colts head coach Ryan Goddard. It went viral locally, blowing up via texts and Twitter.
Andrada, Eagles head coach David Ramirez, Goddard and PCS Athletic Director Rick Macias had no comment.
District spokesman Scott Jones offered no details regarding the matter.
“The post was immediately removed and the rest is a personnel issue,” Jones said. “I can only say that it was dealt with swiftly.”
Sources confirm that Andrada was suspended for this week and next — from practices and games. The Eagles play Coronado on Saturday at Gerry Berry Stadium and have a bye the following week.
Andrada is not a teacher and does not work in the PCS district.
In 2011, Ramirez was placed on administrative leave for a personnel matter and Andrada served as interim head football coach at East.
