Detours open on Purcell

Travelers driving through the detours for the Purcell Boulevard reconstruction no longer need to take an alternate route.

The detour route to Tiffany Drive for the project has been lifted.

“We just want people to know that they don’t have to take that detour anymore,” said Mark Pierson, project manager for Pueblo County Department of Engineering and Public Works.

“We know people get used to driving a certain way but we want to let them know that they don’t have to do that, anymore.”

Beginning next week, the temporary detour to Tiffany will be removed.

All southbound traffic will use Purcell Boulevard.

Tiffany will resume two-way traffic.

“We’re in crunch time now,” Pierson said. “We just have the last section to finish — without the weather interfering.”

Pending sunny skies, paving Purcell Boulevard is expected to begin Dec. 13 from Spaulding Avenue to Hahn Peak Avenue.

However, finishing touches such as top mats and mediums will not be installed until warmer weather, longer days and likely not until spring, Pierson said.
