Like the old saying goes, “In like a lion, out like a lamb,” winter has come and go and spring is on its way, although some days that is very questionable.
Spring is here and spring sports is in full fledge now that Spring Break is over.
The Lady Cyclones girls’ soccer team are bringing their winning attitudes to the table and hope to have a season that will be unforgettable.
Returning players for this year’s varsity team are: Bailee Jameson, Lexi Mayber, Deanna Rangel, Mikayla Schmidt, Clair Fort, Makenzie Olguin, Fabiana Molina, Hannah Gridley, Kelly Sheehan, and Brittany Guerrero.
In addition to the returning players, the Lady Cyclones varsity soccer team is also welcoming some new girls onto the team and they are playing hard and working to compete at this level of the game.
Head Coach Rex Harriman has high expectations for his team this year and hopes to capitalize on each of them.
“Our goals for this season is to improve every day, win the league, get to at least the third round of the state playoffs, be good teammates, and be good winners and good losers.
“I think we have all capabilities to complete all of those goals, so I am anxious for this season to get underway,” Harriman said.
Although Harriman likes to have a very well-rounded team, he would list Bailee Jameson, Mikayla Schmidt, Deanna Rangel and Fabiana Molina as star players who will lead the pack.
“The girls are working hard, staying focused and our strengths will be speed and passing.
“I would like to think we have no weaknesses, but right now our weakness is aggressiveness and physical conditioning, which we will work very hard at throughout the season.
“I don’t expect us to have those attributes be as weaknesses for very long.”
