DEADLINES

The View goes to press on Tuesday evenings in order to reach the Post Office on Wednesdays, and readers' mailboxes each Thursday.

Our advertising and editorial staffs require varying amounts of lead time to prepare advertisements, and photos, news and features stories, for publication.

For instance, a news release submitted on a Monday is too late for publication in that week's edition because production work already has begun on news pages by that time.

But classifieds can be placed until 3 p.m. each Monday because that page is produced early on Tuesdays.

To help readers, news sources and advertisers, the deadlines for ads and various types of submissions, such as news releases, briefs, and letters to the editor, are listed below.

Advertising:

  • Classifieds - 3 p.m. on Monday the week of desired publication.
  • Happenings - Noon on Wednesday the week prior to the week of desired publication.
  • All other advertising - 2 p.m. on Thursday, one week prior to the date of desired publication.

News and feature stories:

  • Briefs, sports items and news releases - noon on Friday the week prior to the desired date of publication.
  • Letters to the editor - noon on Monday the same week of the desired date of publication.

Letters must include the writer's name and a phone number, so authorship may be verified.

Please try to limit length to one typewritten page (or no more than 400 words) or the letter likely will be edited for length.

Letters may be mailed to 215 S. Purcell Blvd., or sent by e-mail to: lsword@pueblowestview.com. If sent as an attachment, send as a Word document, saved as "text" (NOT "text only.")

Office hours at The View are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays.

If you have a story or photo idea, a complaint, a suggestion or question about news or sports items, call Editor Loretta Sword or sports reporter Mike Griffin at 547-9606.

Please leave a voice mail if there is no answer.

You may e-mail Sword at: lsword@pueblowestview.com and Griffin at mgriffin@pueblowestview.com.

Written news releases may be mailed to or dropped off at The View's office at 215 S. Purcell Blvd. (just south of U.S. 50, next to the Hilltop Veterinary Clinic) or sent by FAX to 547-4380.

News releases and other items also may be left at night or on weekends in the drop box located on the exterior wall to the left of the front door.

Information turned in after deadline will not appear in that week's issue, but in the one that follows.

To inquire about advertising rates, call Office Manager Peggy Dissler at 547-9606. Dissler handles classified ads.

If inquiring about display ad information, Dissler will refer you to one of The View's sales representatives: Karen Sherer, Denise Laine-Coughlin, or Blanche Podio.
