Senior safety is event theme
The Pueblo West View
Helping senior citizens cope with safety issues will be the theme of an event hosted by the Senior Medical Network Group on Sept. 17.
The "Safety of Seniors (SOS) Conference" will be held from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the First Church of the Nazarene, 84 Stanford.
This first-ever event will feature four sessions (financial, legal, public and drug safety) aimed at helping seniors address issues they face on a daily basis. Master of Ceremonies will be Dave Ritterling, president of Visiting Angels Home Care. Keynote speaker will be Pueblo District Attorney Bill Thiebaut.
The event is sponsored by the American Association of Retired Persons, ElderWatch and the Senior Resource Development Agency in Pueblo. Several health-care providers will sponsor booths and are donating their efforts to support the event.
Admission to the event is free and free refreshments will be provided. Space will be limited, so anyone interested in attending needs to call 545-1212 by Sept. 9 to register. For more information call Nicky Nicholas at 719-545-1212 or Pat Esgar at 719-404-1018.
