Drive-through flu clinic
Parkview Medical Center employees are doing everything they can to make getting a flu shot as easy as possible.
This year the Parkview Pueblo West ER will host its third annual drive-through flu clinic.
The clinic is Friday, Oct. 11, from 6 to 9 a.m. at the Pueblo West ER location.
Participants must be 18 years or older and can simply “drive through the parking lot, stick their arm out the window and be on their way!” said Parkview Public Relations Specialist Michelle Peulen.
“We want to make sure everybody in the community gets a flu shot, so we try to make it as easy as possible. As far as I know, so far we’ve got the only drive-through clinic of its kind,” she said.
Participants for the flu clinic stop at the first station in the parking lot where they sign a consent form and waiver, then drive forward to the next station where nurses are waiting and available on either side of the vehicle (so passengers can take part too).
Hang your arm out the window, receive your vaccination, and drive right on out of the parking lot.
The shots are $20, and can be paid by cash, check or credit card.
Those applicable can use their Medicare Part B plan to pay for the shot.
Receipts will be available for people who can submit it to insurance for reimbursement.
“Each year we’ve done this we’ve gained momentum on how many people come,” Peulen said.
The drive-through clinic is only for people who have had a flu shot before and do not have a reaction to the shot, and is not for anyone with an egg allergy.
To make things as easy as possible, wear a short-sleeved shirt.
Additionally, nurses will be providing shots inside the Parkview Pueblo West location that day from 2 to 6 p.m., and are available for ages 5 and older.
The Pueblo West ER is located at 899 E. Industrial Blvd. Questions can be directed to 584-7319.
