Trio of PWHS students receive service academy nominations

Two current students and one former Pueblo West High School grad were nominated by Congressman Scott Tipton, R-Colo., to attend U.S. service academies.

Zachary Drury and Jonathan Kelting of PWHS received nominations to the Air Force Academy.

Rachel Jankelow, a 2013 Pueblo West graduate and currently a student at the Virginia Military Institute, received a nomination to Air Force Academy

The students are among 22 seniors from the 3rd Congressional District to receive the nomination.

“These students have worked incredibly hard to earn a nomination, and it’s a true honor to be able to recommend them to our nation’s distinguished service academies. Because of their academic and extracurricular achievements, outstanding moral character, and dedication to our country, I’m confident that each of them would make dependable, capable and successful officers should they be accepted into the academies,” Tipton said in a written statement.

“The 3rd district is blessed to have so many talented and well-rounded young people.”
