Will seminar set
Spend a few hours this weekend to plan for your family’s future with a seminar on creating a will, hosted by Son Rise Methodist Church.
The seminar is free and open to anyone interested in participating. Participants will learn about estate planning and will receive a helpful informational packet.
It will be March 16 from noon until 3 p.m.
Dale Levy, the Planned Giving Director of the United Methodist Foundation and an attorney from the Pueblo community will lead the seminar. There will be plenty of time for questions and individual consultations.
“People don’t realize what can happen to their children if they don’t have a will,” said Kathy Thayer, co-chair of the finance committee at Son Rise Church. “And the elderly need wills, because I know how hard it is to take control and guardianship from your parents. These are the reasons our church is doing this – to help people.”
Thayer said the finance committee members had been discussing the possibility of a seminar on wills for awhile, and when a brochure arrived in the mail outlining the basics, they knew it was time to offer it to the public.
“This is not religious based. We want the whole community to come and we just want to get the information out there and protect children and elders,” Thayer said. Thayer asked for people to please call the church to register so they can plan for enough informational packets.
The church can be reached at 545-0557.
There will be light snacks served from noon until 1 p.m., followed by the seminar from 1-3 p.m.
