D70 to review e-cigs
The Pueblo County District 70 school board is scheduled to take action tonight on a proposed policy change that would prohibit the use of electronic cigarettes on district property.
The school board is scheduled to meet at 6 p.m. at the Administrative Services Center, 301 28th Lane.
A work session is scheduled immediately after the regular meeting.
The policy change would prohibit any electronic device that can be used to inhale nicotine, including but not limited to an electronic cigarette, cigar, cigarillo or pipe.
The disciplinary action for possessing electronic cigarettes would be the same as for violating the current tobacco-use policy.
In other action, the board is expected to approve two separate bids for bond construction projects at Pueblo West High and Rye High schools.
The board also is scheduled to vote on an agreement with PERA to offer the PERAPlus 457 Plan, which is an optional deferred compensation retirement savings plan.
