1 woman dead, 1 seriously injured in Pueblo West rollover crash

One woman was killed and another seriously injured in a single-vehicle crash late Friday morning on U.S. 50 in Pueblo West.

A 2003 Ford F-250 pulling a camping trailer being driven by Kaye Widger, 67, of Penrose was traveling westbound on U.S. 50 between the West McCulloch and McCulloch Main exits when Widger failed to maintain control of the vehicle, causing it to travel through the center median and into the eastbound lanes of travel, according to the Colorado State Patrol.

The truck then rolled and partially ejected Widger.

The crash happened at 11:08 a.m.

Widger was pronounced dead at the scene by the Pueblo County Coroner’s Office, the state patrol said.

A passenger in the front seat, identified as Thelma Widger, 91, of Penrose, was transported by an ambulance to Parkview Medical Center with serious injuries.

A dog was riding in the truck with the two women but came away from the accident uninjured, Brad Davidson, division chief of the Pueblo West Fire Department, said. Animal services was called to the scene to attend to the dog.

Alcohol or drugs are not considered a contributing factor in the crash.

The wreck remains under investigation.
