The Pueblo West View

Redemption season for baseball

(NOTE: See season preview of boys and girls track on Page C4)

The Pueblo West boys track team spent the day at the Centennial Invitational last Saturday, where two runners shined and showed that hard work and perseverance really does pay off.

“Wyatt Swanson and Zach Retzlaff both had a great weekend and both ran their personal best times in the 1600 meter run on Saturday,” said Pueblo West High School track team head coach Matt Sherman.

Retzlaff was second in the meet with 4:26 and Swanson was fifth with a 4:34, and both are in the top 10 in the state for that particular event.

“They work very hard, running upwards of 60-70 miles a week to get themselves ready to run fast during the season,” Sherman said.

“They will focus on getting themselves into the 2-mile and the 800m for the state meet in the next couple of weeks.

“Both boys are not only great athletes, but great kids and students as well.”

Pueblo West will travel to the Hornet Invite out in the County on April 5.
