Educational show puts the emphasis on fun
The goal is to entertain, but be prepared to — gasp! — learn something in the midst of the laughs.
Garry Krinsky will bring his “Toying With Science” show to the Sangre de Cristo Arts and Conference Center at 7 p.m. Thursday. It’s the finale of this season’s Children’s Playhouse Theater series.
Krinsky’s program was developed with the Museum of Science in Boston. Using music, motion and his own animated personality, he shows kids how scientific concepts such as gravity work. Let’s face it, watching a guy balance several ladders on his chin to illustrate the center of gravity is a little more exciting than dropping an apple.
The Buell Children’s Museum will stay open late for the occasion so kids can explore the “Off to See the Wizards — Art & Science” exhibit before the show.
“Toying With Science” is a pajama-friendly event.
A special 10 a.m. performance of “Toying With Science” will be held for school groups. Teachers can call the arts center at 295-7200 for information.
Tickets for the show are $8 at the arts center box office or 295-7200.
Admission to the children’s museum is $4 for adults and $3 for children.
