Paul Taylor’s touring company comes to Pueblo
Paul Taylor never has been a conventional choreographer — a fact that may be even more evident in Taylor 2.
The six-member group, created by Taylor in 1993, is half the size of a typical dance troupe but performs its own versions of the choreographer’s creations. Its repertoire includes Taylor’s most notable work, “Esplanade” (1975).
Taylor 2 will come to the Sangre de Cristo Arts and Conference Center for a 7:30 p.m. performance on Monday. It’s the finale of the 2013-14 Center Stage Series.
Taylor’s dances are known for their athleticism, romance and humor. Some of his subjects through the last 50 years have been love, war, history, religion, life and death. The accompanying music includes barbershop quartets, symphonies, loon calls and Medieval masses.
Taylor 2 has performed in nearly 400 cities, usually playing smaller markets that don’t often have an opportunity to host big-name dance productions.
Tickets for the performance are $30. They are available at the arts center box office or by calling 295-7200.
The arts center is at 210 N. Santa Fe Ave.
