SWALLOWS BOYS DEFEAT SWINK FOR FIRST TIME IN SCHOOL HISTORY
The Swallows Charter Academy boys basketball team claimed its first ever win over Santa Fe League foe Swink, defeating the Lions 74-53 at SCA Gymnasium Saturday night.
The Spartans got a breakout game from junior Trevor Groeneveld, who scored 27 points, sinking four three-pointers. Groeneveld also delivered a double-double with 27 points and 10 rebounds.
Seniors Dylan Leyba and Caden Jones each added 16 points apiece in the win.
Since joining the Santa Fe League in 2014-15, the Spartans had never defeated Swink.
The victory improved the Spartans to 2-5 overall and 1-3 in Santa Fe League play.
CSU-PUEBLO TO HOST MILITARY APPRECIATION BASKETBALL GAME JAN. 21
The Colorado State University-Pueblo men’s and women’s basketball programs invite all active and retired military to the ThunderWolves’ game Jan. 21 against Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference foe Colorado School of Mines on Military Appreciation Night.
All active and retired military plus up to four family members will all be admitted free to the evening’s doubleheader games.
The games tip off with the women’s game at 5:30 p.m. and the men’s game at approximately 7:30 p.m.
